DEPARTMENT OF BASIC SCIENCES The Department of Humanities and sciences came into existence in the year 2007 when the college was established. The department plays a vital role in grooming the students in their basic knowledge of science and language and its prime focus is to provide a conceptual base in Basic Sciences which form a foundation to the Engineering subjects and it is instrumental in grooming the students into competent Engineers and individuals through training in Soft Skills to compete for global opportunities. In view of the rapid development of knowledge and the technological changes, the department seeks to strengthen itself by integrating it with the engineering departments for a productive knowledge base. The department has been encouraging the conduct of workshops and seminars to enable the faculty to keep abreast of the knowledge and methodologies in the respective fields of research. The Department comprises of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English and deals with Linear Algebra & Calculus, Differential Equations and Vector Calculus, Complex Variables & Transformations, Probability & Statistics, Discrete Mathematical Structures, Business Statistics & Mathematical Foundations of Computer Science, Chemistry, Environmental Studies, English, Business Communication skills and Soft skills training programmes with emphasis on personality development. Being the supportive department, H&S plays a constructive role in development of the Organization. The department is strengthened by Professors, Associate Professors in each subject of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry and English.

The laboratories are the backbone of engineering course of study, the Laboratory instruction develops students' experimental skills, ability to work in teams and communicate effectively, learn from failure, and be responsible for their own results. We have the following laboratories with full-fledged faculties.
The Department of Physics has been one of the oldest departments since the establishment of SREC and has a profound stand in the research and teaching & learning activities while renovating itself with the dynamic curriculum of the affiliating institutions.These courses are meant to teach the fundamentals of physics while focusing on their technological and engineering applications. The Department is strong with well equipped & spacious laboratories and with required infrastructure. The vision of the department is to be a dynamic, inclusive and competitive center of excellence in teaching, learning and research in physics to ensure that the technical needs of students are addressed.The department has well-qualified, experienced and highly motivated faculty. The faculty of the Department teach Engineering Physics courses for I year B Tech students.

The English Language and Communication Skills (ELCS) Lab was established in 2007 with the objective of improving students’ communication skills in English through K Van Solutions language-learning software. The lab provides a learner-cantered environment where students develop their listening, speaking, reading, and writing (LSRW) skills through interactive modules and practical activities such as Group discussions, Role plays, Presentations, Mock interviews, and Pronunciation exercises. It helps students enhance their vocabulary, grammar, fluency, and confidence in using English effectively. The ELCS Lab also fosters interpersonal skills, critical thinking, teamwork, and professional etiquette, preparing students for campus placements, higher education, and workplace communication. By integrating modern language-learning technology with activity-based learning, the ELCS Lab bridges the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-life communication, making students more competent, employable, and globally competitive.

The Engineering Workshop is one of the fundamental laboratory where students develop essential manufacturing and fabrication skills through hands-on training. It provides experience in the safe use of tools, machines, and workshop equipment used in Engineering Industries. Students learn essential techniques such as fitting, carpentry, welding, sheet metal work, foundry, machining, electrical wiring, and plumbing. The workshop emphasizes safety, precision, teamwork, and problem-solving while helping students bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world Engineering applications. It serves as a foundation for developing technical competence, creativity, and professional skills required in various engineering disciplines.

The Chemistry Laboratory at Santhiram Engineering College, Nandyal, serves as a vibrant center for scientific learning and practical experimentation. Equipped with modern instruments, quality glassware, and essential analytical facilities, the laboratory provides students with hands-on experience in fundamental and applied chemistry. The lab is designed to support engineering curricula by helping students understand chemical principles through experiments, observations, and data analysis in a safe and well-maintained environment. The laboratory encourages inquiry-based learning, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills among students. Under the guidance of experienced faculty members, students perform experiments related to physical, organic, and inorganic chemistry while adhering to standard safety practices. The Chemistry Laboratory plays a vital role in strengthening the practical knowledge of students and fostering a strong foundation for research, innovation, and professional excellence in engineering and technology.
