The Department of Mechanical Engineering (ME) is offering a UG Program in B.Tech from the year 2011 with an intake of 60 students and it was increased to 120 in 2014 to meet the growing demand for qualified technical personnel in the field of Mechanical Engineering. The Department’s strength is constantly upgrading infrastructure & Laboratory facilities. The department has well qualified, dedicated and experienced faculty. A conductive environment exists in the Department for both students and staff. Quality technical education is provided to the students in the core areas of the field to meet the challenges of globalization.

Dr. Ramesh Raju
Professor & Head
Dr. Ramesh Raju is one of the experts on laser machining and Surface engineering concepts. His work has significantly advanced laser based metal deposition for refurbishment of worn out gas turbine blades and helped develop safer ways for repair of such blades for aerospace applications.
Ramesh, who is now the Professor & Head, with the SREC Nandyal, graduated from Shanmugha College of Engineering, Bharathidasan University and obtained his Post-graduation from Thiagarajar College of Engineering, Anna University. He obtained his Ph.D from National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli, TN.
He launched his career as a Design Engineer with the GB Industries for Boiler pressure parts design in Tiruchirappalli in 2003. There, he worked designing of pressure parts for low pressure boiler plants suitable for Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. He then served as the Software engineer for Cognizant Technology Solutions, India and Germany until 2010.
He moved to India in 2010 to join JJ College of Engineering and Technology, Tiruchirappalli, TN where he served as Assistant Professor for Mechanical Engineering between 2010 to2012. He then served as the Senior Assistant Professor for MITS, Madanapalle, AP until assuming his current position in 2016.
He is a Fellow of Indian Institute of Production Engineers (India) and Member of Indian Society for Technical Education of India
